Chapter 6
That was the first – and I wish I could say the last – time I sampled rat blood. I’d read about fast food on my bookscreen, but nothing had come close to the true definition until that moment. We spent a good four hours rounding up the little beast, and that did nothing to satisfy my new hunger (or was it thirst?) for blood. Theo, always thinking of me, offered his wrist again, knowing I was still so new and needed that much more to stop me from becoming ravenous.
“You sure I’m not taking too much?” I asked nervously. I desperately wanted more, but I’d already drunk more than the four rats he’d drained.
If there was any hidden resentment, I couldn’t see it. He looked at me lovingly. Those green eyes of his lit with more than just approval. I could see the attraction there, just below the surface. He and I had not had the chance yet to enjoy some of the perks of our new relationship, and it had been gnawing at me. Now I could tell it was bothering him just as much, like an itch desperately needing to be scratched but just out of reach. His eyes carried that wicked determination in them.
“You can take whatever you need from me. All I have is yours.” Theo spoke softly, with no hint of his normally cocky attitude.
“When did you become the gentleman?”
“You miss the rogue? Hold on, I’ll get him.”
“I do love a good rake. One who can take me in his arms and…”
He did just that.
I almost squealed in surprise, but his lips met mine, swallowing the sound before it could escape. This was what I’d been hoping for. Now that we were alone. Sort of. He carried me over to the porch of an abandoned home and set me down roughly on the half wall. Pulling back long enough to pierce me with his gorgeous eyes, Theo said something that sounded like “Too many clothes,” but it was garbled in a possessive growl. He spread my knees apart and filled the gap with his body. Arms wrapped around me, pulling me into his tight chest. He rooted around the sensitive spots on my neck until he found his home. The same spot he’d pierced before was again his. Teeth biting into my flesh might normally make me cry out in pain, but this had me melting against the firmness of his body. Just a sip, that was all he took, but it was enough to light a fire within me that brought out a beast I had not yet met.
“Take off your pants, or mine, or both… no more waiting,” I feverishly moaned.
“Naughty… I like it.” He reached for the belt on my pants. Impatiently, I tried to undo his but our hands clumsily ran into each other.
“I could just rip them off,” he joked.
“Then I’d have nothing to wear.”
“And that’s a problem… why?”
“Marcel would get a free show…”
“Good point. No one sees my goods but me.
